In the Summer of 1979 Mrs Mildred ("Millie") Willdig (postmistress of Deganwy & later mayor of Conwy) and Myra Chapman were considering the lack of activities for young people in Deganwy. The idea of a pantomime was presented to a meeting of the Mother's Union - the result was the pantomime "The Magic Post Office", written by local man Ted Owen, and Mildred played the good fairy.

The production was so successful that further productions followed - becoming the Church House Amateur Players Society.

When the old Church House closed in 1994 we moved to Conwy Civic Hall, accompanied by a change in name to Civic Hall Amateur Players Society. The name has been retained despite the closure of the Civic Hall after our 2013 panto. Since then our main base has been Memorial Hall in Llandudno Junction.

CHAPS have been producing shows in the Conwy area for 40 years. Ephemera from some of our shows is available below (just click on the thumbnail for more about that show).
